The Golf VIII's exterior design doesn't stray far from the VII's, while the interior features more significant changes.

The headlights are more streamlined, along with new logos, and the drag coefficient has been reduced to 0.275 compared to the 7's 0.29.
Compared to the previous generation, the Golf 8 is 29 mm longer, but its wheelbase is 1 mm shorter
It is also 10 mm narrower and 4 mm taller.
The three door hatchback has been discontinued, leaving the five door hatchback as the only model available at launch, with the possibility of a wagon later.
In the United States, the only confirmed models are the GTI and the R, which have not yet been revealed.
